Resident Evil NEMESIS Costume PROJECT

Welcome to the NEMESIS PROJECT!

What a treat it is to create characters.  I am available for all your creature design and fabrication needs, including character design, sculpts, silicone applications and painting.  This is NEMESIS, from Resident Evil.  He was created as a wearable pull-over mask.  I was so happy to have the opportunity to produce this piece!  Have a look at how large it is!!

NEMESIS is cast in prosthetic grade silicone rubber, with an inner core of flexible polyfoam to hold its shape.    It can be cast as a foam filled display bust or I can cast it with a thinner interior liner as a COSPLAY wearable pull-over mask.

Nemesis is available in three formats:

1.) HALF HEAD ONLY (KIT means unpainted and untrimmed). This version is the face cast from the mold as a HALF CASTING, meaning it is NOT cast with the back of the head. Stops at the neck.

2.) FULL HEAD ONLY  (KIT means unpainted and untrimmed) This is his ENTIRE  HEAD all the way around. Does not include anything beneath his jawline/neck.

3.) FULL BUST  (KIT means unpainted and untrimmed) This is his ENTIRE head, chest, shoulders and back.

**plastic eye and metal sheet for the staples is included in each kit FREE!!

4.) SHOULDER SOLD SEPARATELY

The following photo shows a version that was made for a professional cosplayer. It utilzes a plastic eye with silicon eyelids.  When not being worn, the eye can be inserted into the empty socket.

This prosthetic was created in SILICON from a special urethane rubber mold.  Many obstacles had to be overcome to produce a viable life-like prosthetic. The costs were 5X more expensive than producing a latex mask, but just look at the results.  Well worth the added cost and labour.

Special thanks to the STAN WINSTON SCHOOL of CHARACTER ARTS for their invaluable airbrushing tutorials.  Over 40 hours of transluscent color layering made this really come to life.  Colours used: flesh tones, blush tones, blue, purple, yellow ochre and brown.  Real metal provides the staple details.

 HOW IT WAS MADE:

To create the wearable aspect of this pull-over prosthetic, the interior requires a flexible foam so that the exaggerated portions maintain their shape.  Have a look at the voids that need support:

HOW IT WAS MADE

The Character started as a foam armature as a base.  Nearly Five cases of WED Clay were used to create the head and shoulders.  Enjoy the evolution:

The sculpt began on a lifesized foam human bust armature.  Many cases of WED clay were utlized to achieve the base forms:

Chuck sets to work on some detailing.

Blocking continues on the chest area...

...Experimenting with different ways to achieve the torn skin appearance.   Final shapes are beginning their detail phase.

Midian lends a hand on some detailing.  The scult is nearing completion at this stage.

MOLDING PHASE:

SCULPTING THE SHOULDERS:

First Silicone test pull (unpainted translucent):

FULL SILICONE BUST:

TEST PAINTING SILICONE SAMPLE PARTS:

The painting was accomplished using primarily a Paasche H single action airbrush.   We started applying a blush color to begin shading and breaking up the surface color.

Then purple hues were applied to continue the shading and skin variation.

White was applied to the teeth as a base color and shading continued in the wounds and exposed muscle areas.

Several shades of a darker brown, some highlights and more coats of blue/purple and this was a DONE project!

The glass eye is a temporary decoration.  The actor's eye will show through the cavity in the protethetic pull-over.
