QUEEN ALIEN SCALE STUDIO SCALE REPLICA!

This is studio scale replica of the head crest and face. It is created as a tribute to the fine work by James Cameron and the artists at STAN WINSTON STUDIOS. This is a labor of love and serves as a testiment to the power of practical effects.
The QUEEN kit is cast in a resin/fiberglass matrix and includes:
- The carapice casting (HUGE)
- The upper head
- The jaw
- Upper teeth (clear castings)
- Lower teeth (clear castings)
- Set of silcone jaw tendon castings (4 parts)
- Inner jaw casting
HOW IT WAS MADE: Sculpting process: First we crafted a sculpting armature consisting of a thick styrene form cut to shape and curved. This was mounted on a steel stand that allowed vertical and horizontal mounting options. Then we began slapping clay. Once the base forms were approved, the detailing process began: Completed Sculpt (TOP HALF) MOLDING THE UPPER SHELL The casting of the upper shell was accomplished in urethane plastic. It was refined, trimmed and prepped for the sculpt to continue: SCULPTING THE UNDERSIDE What you see above is the bottom half of the MASTER MOLD. Now what's left is: THE FACE: The jaw and head are engineered with mobility/poseability in mind. The tongue and groove system allows for maximum flexiblity. The teeth & tendons are sculpted separtely. Here's the teeth in progress: The tendons will be in a transluscent rubber and attach at the slots indicated on the skull.
