Fifth Element Stones
REMASTERED LIFESIZE REPLICA STONES
I sculpted these stones originally back in 2002. I used the old USPS triangular cardboard tubes cut into sections. I poured resin into the sections, and then spent a few weeks carving them with files and rotary tools. Once the patterns were finished I created a mold to reproduce each stone.

THE TUTORIAL:
I re-tooled them 10 years later to accurize the symbols, (remastered again in 2017), I updated them to correct the details and accurize and improve them. The lines have been re-grooved, the bevels accentuated, the lines are now correctly interrupted at one corner on both ends, and new surface details have been added. The stones are cast in a high impact urethane plastic.
Some people argue that these stones are too large to be screen accurate, but I prefer them this large and they look this large in the final scene where they are activated in the temple. . They are nic and beefy! Perfect garden sculptures!
Each Stone replica is 10 3/4" Tall (27.3cm)

HOW IT WAS MADE:
I made the original base shape by pouring urethane resin into a triangular poster tube box. This was then cut to the proper length and shaped on the edges with a belt sander. I then produced a cardboard template that guided the line patterns for each stone. These were traced onto the stone blanks and the grooves were cut in using a dremel bit. The texture and cracks/factures were added as a final surfac detail.
Here's a little tid-bit on the SIZE of the stones. In the film, the first time you see the stones in any great detail is while they are being extracted from the Diva. These are under-sized stones, made to fit more realistically in a thin actress. Later in the Egyptian Temple, you can see the size increase dramatically. I decided to replicate the larger of the sets. I made these originally over 10 years ago and made the call to make them at the size you see in the photos. Enjoy!!
