Studio Scale Batteries not Included PARENT ROBOTS

Welcome to the BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED PARENT ROBOTS.   The mother is CARMEN, the father is KILOWATT (official names) The robots in this film have always been a passion of mine.  I'm absolutely amazed at the level of detail the model maker artists were able to achieve using analog techniques.   This is a tribute piece to fine art of practical special effects, using some cutting edge building techniques.

Carmen and Kilowatt (as well as their 3 babies) are both DIGITAL STL FILES and PHYSICAL KITS (resin castings, laser cut parts, clear castings, and resin 3D printed components).

Please note that the PHYSICAL KIT ships to U.S. addresses.  If you are overseas please contact me first before ordering.

For digital files please allow up to 1-2 hours to receive your packet (manually sent). For the physical kit, please allow 4 weeks after order for shipment.

Please note that "STL FILE SET" is comprised of an email sent that contains zipped file folders.  It does not contain any physical media - you 3D print the kits at home.

TUTORIAL FOR KILOWATT:

You can find the baby robots on this webpage:

Both the mother and father are faithfully reproduced accurate to the ILM-made puppets seen on film.   I have had the great opportunity to visit the the entire robot family at ILM several times and was able to take enough reference photos to make these models possible.   This is me with the film-used robots:

Both models were carefully modeled as 3D meshes, paying attention to proportion and detail.  All the parts were resin printed on various machines.

The physical kit will be muli-media, including resin-3D printed parts, resin and fibeglass castings, laser cut components, and tinted clear cast eyes.

The lighting can be achieved with the chasing light LED strip ($17.00 on amazon), fiberoptics ($9.00 on amazon) and a few inexpensive LEDs available on amazon.

When the time comes, I'll be producing a tutorial video showing you how to achieve amazing lighting effects using these inexpensive light kits.    It will be very similar to what I demonstrate on my E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL ULTIMATE EDITION tutorial series.

MAKING THE MOLDS!

Whoa this was a task! You wouldn't think it but that's about $700 in rubber and 8 straight days of carefully crafting the mold separatisn (squish molds, seamless) and pouring rubber.
