MARS MISSION SPACE HELMET

DreamScheme Studios was commisioned to create this helmet for a project.  We started from a single illustration, then developed simple shapes and contours and modified as necessary for full functionality.

THIS HELMET IS TEMPORARILY DISCONTINUED.

This is the MARS HELMET.

HOW IT WAS MADE:

 Planning the symmetry of the helmet using a pre-sculpted visor:

Sculpt - roughing in the basic shapes:

Refining edges and smoothing begins:

 Completed helmet sculpt.  The visor will be a clear PETG thermal formed component.

 Phase 1 of molding the sculpt:

The mold is completed, then the helmet is cast and the cast is smoothed out further. It takes a lot more time and effort to go through two molding phases but the results are worth it.

Now the shell is molded again (without the visor in place) and this creates the final master pattern.
